My three young nieces were watching their favourite pop idols performing on TV with so much excitement, discussing their dressings, singing and dancing. They were imitating their dances and singing. While it was entertaining to watch, it dawned on me that people seldom talked about Jesus, who is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6), Word of God (John 1:1) and Saviour (Luke 2:11).
Most are familar with John 3:16 that God, the Father loved us that He sent His begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die in order to redeem us to receive eternal life. And through the Son, we has access to the Father (Eph 2:18). But the Father has more to give.
The Son, became the personification of God in human form, as the second and last Adam to live as perfect sinless man on earth since the fall of first Adam who sinned. God determined that His Son, in whom God was well-pleased (Mat 17:5), is the perfect image from heaven for us to imitate (1 Cor 15:45-49).
It is marvelous that God predestined us to conform to image of his Son so that He can glorify us as co-heir with Christ (Rom 8:17). In Rom 8:29-30, For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…..And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. Essentially, God predestined, called, justified and shall glorify us as we are conformed to the image of His Son.
As we continuously spend time with Him, studying His word, doing His will in obedience, in worship and meditating on Him, we behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image from glory to glory by the Spirit of God (2 Cor 3:18), bearing fruit of the Spirit (John 15:8).
Prophecies, tongues and gifts of the Spirit will cease one day when completeness comes (1 Cor 13:8-10), but bearing fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5: 22-23)and being conformed to the image of Christ for eternity.
